Matthew Callaghan
Lecturer & Field of Study Leader for Spanish, Griffith University
Dr Matthew Callaghan is a lecturer in the School of Humanities, Languages and Social Science, and Field of Study Leader for Spanish at Griffith. Matthew is a Hispanic sociolinguist, specialising in Chilean Spanish, with an interest in literature and translation. His PhD (2020) looked at language variation and change in the second-person singular (i.e. ways of saying ‘you’) in Chilean Spanish. He also holds a research Masters in Translation Studies and publishes in both fields. Matthew also worked for a number of years in Government and in the language industry (as a translator, and in certification design at NAATI).
