Peter Ross

Honorary Senior Lecturer, UNSW

Active in solidarity work with Chile from 1973/4 and subsequently with Nicaragua and other Central American countries from 1979. Commenced courses in Latin American Studies at UNSW in 1978. Awarded PhD in 1988. Thesis: “Policy Formation and Implementation of Social Welfare in Peronist Argentina, 1943-1955”. Full time employment at UNSW 1986-2017. Other major research interests include the Sandinista revolution, the European construction of Amazonia, and currently, together with Dr Jim Levy, a comparison of the distribution of social wealth in Argentina and Australia 1880-1970. Teaching included courses on Latin America from pre-conquest to the present, development studies globally, Amazonia (environments and history) and global history.
